Why a curly cut specialist?
Sometimes I get asked: “What makes a curly cut different?” or “Oh you’re not going to wash my hair first?” or “My hair looked so bad straightened!” or “My stylist just wasn’t giving me what I needed, so I thought I’d try a curly cut”
Well to be honest, I wonder how someone has ended up in my chair when they don’t already know these things or had questions about it prior to booking? I don’t mean it in a rude way, I mean it honestly. How did we end up here? What caused you to google “curly hair salon” if you didn’t know what that entailed?
I think these questions are VERY important and can affect the relationship with your stylist because your point of view and our point of view tend to clash with the influencers point of view and all this opinionated stuff on the internet! 😅
The basis of it is WHY? Why did you search for a curl specialist? Why did you want to try a curly cut? What is your reason for why you are in my chair today?
90% of the time it’s because of a bad haircut experience or a transition into being a natural! 5% of the time it’s a trendy thing to do and the last 5% of the time it’s because they thought it was a normal salon haircut appointment…
Don’t go looking for answers where your answer doesn’t exist, but rather ask yourself why? Why will tell you that you either don’t like your hair style or feel like something is wrong with the cut or whatever the reason is and you will find that your why has the solution.
Anyway, a curly cut specialist chooses to enhance natural texture by balancing, styling, cutting , coloring the hair so that it performs best in its natural state. Each client’s hair is different and each stylist is different so finding your match might take time but the worst thing you can do is to try to do something without a purpose…. That goes for anything in life but especially when choosing a stylist 😊
